AFAIK, you're still running some version (i.e. 13.04) of Ubuntu Desktop (or a variant) on top of the ChromeOS kernel. Someone please correct me if my info is out-of-date. If that is so, virtually all the info you can find on the web (pertaining to that version) will apply.

With all that said, don't miss the 'Classic Menu Indicator.' The easiest approach is probably to add Debian or Ubuntu to the Chrome OS like this:

http://lifehacker.com/how-to-install-linux-on-a-chromebook-and-unlock-its-ful-509039343
http://www.howtogeek.com/162120/how-to-install-ubuntu-linux-on-your-chromebook-with-crouton/

The HowToGeek article also mentions ChrUbuntu as a dual-boot alternative. It's a little more complicated to pull off and riskier, but ultimately gives you a more traditional Linux experience:

http://chromeos-cr48.blogspot.fr/Barry S. However, ...I haven't tested it myself, so IDK. However, a quick look at DistroWatch reveals that it's Debian-based, so there's probably an 85% chance that it will work on the C7.

The technique that I advocate is testing on external media (USB) first. Once you have it working from USB, transferring it to the HDD is a fairly trivial low-risk exercise. Soon, I will release an image and tools to make the production of such media much easier. Since I can't possibly test every distro in existence, this approach seems like a feasible alternative.Barry S. Schultzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04438728077126766517noreply@blogger.com
